Fund Your Fun With Tax Savings
Some people may judge you differently because you want a boat that matches your lifted Escalade. I won’t, I like boats too. Some people love to travel and take seemingly extravagant vacations. Whatever you enjoy doing, riding, collecting, sewing with or floating on, wouldn’t it be nice to have a slush fund that supports or pays for your desires?
My kids enjoy their participation with 4-H and working with animals. Even traveling to compete at the national level this year, we have not come across a golden egg laying goose, so how can you fund fun activities? If you have been overpaying your taxes, you may have just found a cash source. In my experience, having a solution for where the money is going to come from sure makes discussing the new toy, hobby, trip, and gadget purchase with your spouse or significant other much smoother too.
Implementing legal, tax-saving strategies can provide you an opportunity to reallocate cash spent on taxes you were not obligated to pay in the first place to more fun activities that you enjoy. Now, if you are proud to spend more than you have to on taxes, it is not my place to judge your decisions with your money. I doubt you will receive a thank you note from the government, but if it makes you feel good, then that is your choice to make.
When you are ready to expand your dirt bike collection, get hit with the curse of fly-fishing, or realize another foot longer boat would really provide for so much more, then take a look at your current tax positions and schedule an analysis to see just how much you could save with proactive tax planning.
